Larnaca Taxi - Busy Driving Fine Wine Lovers to Their Next Tipple of Choice!
November is officially “Wine Month” in Cyprus – as it is, unofficially, most months of the year! With around 40 wineries in operation – mostly found across the southwest part of the island and up into the Troodos Mountains - it’s no surprise that a Larnaca taxi can be busy driving fine wine lovers to their next tipple of choice.
Each year at this time, Cyprus Tourism organises an annual “Open Doors” event, which offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore the island’s traditional vineyards and modern winemaking modern facilities. Of course, everyone can also participate in wine tasting and winemaking masterclasses. After which, it can be reassuring to know that a Cyprus taxi transfers driver can be on hand to deliver you safely back to your hotel!
Opportunities to taste the very satisfying results
Cyprus is one of the oldest wine producers in the world, dating back more than five thousand years. Many of the vineyards are still family-owned, cultivating both traditional and new blended varieties. Throughout the year, Cyprus wine-making villages regularly stage festival events to celebrate the island’s own, native grown grape and its uniquely fermented wine, such as Xinisteri, Maratheftiko and Zivani.
In the last two weekends of the Open Doors event (Sat 23 | Sun 24 & Sat 30 | Sun 1 Dec | 11:00-16:30) visitors are invited to a free guided tour of the Cyprus wineries of Argyrides, Vlassides, Zambartas, Kyperounda and Tsiakkas. Not only will the traditional arts of the island’s unique wine making process be revealed but there’s also opportunities to taste the very satisfying results – and enter a draw to win a vintage bottle at the same time!
Win a special vintage bottle from each winery
Each winery will present six different bottles off wine. Participants will be required to correctly identify 12 aromas from of the 30 available to enter the draw to win a special vintage bottle from each winery. In addition, the participant who correctly guesses the highest number of aromas wins a free Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level One course. The Tsiakkas Winery – located at Pelendri in the Pitsilia mountain area of Limassol – will also offer Magnum Bottle Tasting, a recital of traditional village folk tales and an Instagram photo competition.
Wine lovers with an eye on the coming festive season are also invited to a ‘Mulled Wine Evening’ every Thursday during November (7th – 28th) at the Chakra Art Gallery, Paphos. The event is advertised as 6pm – late, which means visitors are always advised to pre-book a Larnaka taxi and ensure the entire experience can be fully enjoyed - with no ‘hiccups’ of the travel arrangement kind!
Always on hand to deliver you safely back to your hotel!
